Overview of sumo robot
Scenario: The entertainment around the world are always on the look out for ways to come up with new forms of entertainment one such way had been to use robots such as Sumo Wrestling which is fast becoming a very popular form of entertainment and yet at the same time it serves as a opportunity for companies to gain funding to improve robots abilities to be able to preform tasks that human being can do! In recent times we have seen in many futuristic films where the whole armed forces are made up of robots such as in Star Wars. A robotic company has approached you, requesting your assistance in creating a competitive robot for the World Sumo Wrestling Competition held in America each year!
Criterion A Inquiry and Analyzing
Strand 1. Explain and justify how Sumo Robots can help us to understand and develop robots in the future? (Before you try and answer this Strand, get in small groups 2 or 3 and go on Youtube.com and lightly research how robots effect our lives today already! Then go back to your Weebly Website and type up your own answer)

Sumo robots can teach us a lot about robots, for example; what pieces work the best, which design is good for the robot, how big should it be, how should we program it, what the of wheels will work the best. Sumo robots can teach help us understand all of that and more! just think about it if we know all of that then we can think of better ideas to enhance and develop robotics in the future, we will be able to make it more interactive and user friendly, we will be able to build in more cool features that people will enjoy.
Strand 2: Get in small groups and Create a Mind map full of ideas, for what you all think a Sumo Robot would need to be successful , remember to refer to this mind map when you are filling in your personal Sumo Robot Research Table for Strand 4 in criterion A:
Strand 3. Put together a Weebly slide show (from the side menu) and then add a text box and talk about how these images of Robots gave you ideas of how to create your own Sumo Robot!
Strand 4. Research Table on what makes the best Sumo Robot (please refer to your Mind map for research ideas)

Criterion B: Developing Ideas
How to program a sumo bot
How to build a sumo bot
Examples of sumo fights
Strand 1. Suggest some design specifications from your research (from Criterion A) which you are thinking of including into your Sumo Robot Wrestler.
As a part of my design specification i will two motors (one left and the other on the right)that connect to the brick, because i need to attach wheels on the motors so i will be able to move and get around easily.
As a part of my design sepcification i will use wide tires instead of the small ones or the tracks, beacuse the wider ones tend to have more friction and that won't allow it to fall over easily. I will attach these to the motors so i can be able to move around
As a part of my design specification i will use a color sensor, because if i don't have a color sensor my robot won't be able to tell the difference between the fighting area and the outside area but if i do have a color sensor my robot will automatically turn backwards (depends how you program it) into the fighting area
As a part of my design specification i will use an ultrasonic sensor and i will place it the back of my robot , because as much as i want strong attacking i also want good defense so if my ultrasonic sensor is on the back of my robot it will be able to detect if anything is attacking from behind and it will instantly move and attack.
As a part of my design specification i will use the metal marble ball to add to the front as a third wheel so the robot will be able to rotate faster than if it was an actual wheel and it will also be easier for the rotation to happen.
As a part of my design specification i will use the brick so i can then connect my motors and all my sensors to it using wires so then i can program my bot to do different things using my computer .
Strand 2. Present a Three feasible design ideas, which can be correctly interpreted by others
Design One: Sumo Robot Design
Design Two: Sumo Robot Design
Design Three: Sumo Robot Design
Strand 3. Present the chosen design from the three suggested design above and outline the reasons for its selection over the other two designs!
I chose design one because it will be able to move much faster since it has wheels and the others have tracks and legs, this one also uses the ultrasonic sensor so it will be able to detect objects when they are close and it also has a ramp which will help it in defense and attacking, this robot is close to the ground which will prevent it from falling over while the other two are a bit taller which may cause them to fall easier.
Strand 4. Develop accurate planning drawings/diagrams and outline requirements for the creation of the chosen solution.
my robot should be close to the ground like this one as this will prevent it from falling over easily. My robot should use wheels like this one since its the fastest way of movment and that will help it in movement. My robot should also include an ultrasonic sensor like this one so it can help it detect if anything is attacking from behind and it would turn quickly and attack back. My robot should also have a ramp on the front like this one, to help it in both attacking and defending, it could help the robot by going under the other robot and carrying it or sweeping it off the fighting areas. My robot should also include a color sensor which will help the robot identify when he is choosing or on the boundaries of the fighting area.
Criterion C: Create
Strand 1. Construct a logical plan, which outlines the efficient use of time and resources, sufficient for peers to be able to follow to create a Rescue Robot (create a your own You Tube Video or Table in Word breaking down how you will follow a series of steps to create a Sumo Robot for wrestling)

Strand 2. Demonstrate excellent technical skills when making the Sumo Robot (This could be displayed in Strand 1 video or Table as well in class) (So no need to write anything here!)
Strand 3. Follow the plan to create the solution, which functions as intended explain changes made to the chosen design and the plan when making the Sumo Robot
There was one small change that i had made while i was building my robot and that was the place of my ultrasonic sensor, it turned out that i placed too high and it could not detect anything so i had to put in a bit lower so it would be able to detect objects.
Strand 4. Present the solution as a whole (Photo of the final Sumo Robot)
Program that I will be using to operate my Sumo Robot to victory!
Criterion D: Evaluate
Strand 1. Describe detailed and relevant testing methods, which generate accurate data, to measure the success of the Sumo Robot ?
My Sumo Robot Survey
Strand 2. Explain the success of the Sumo Robot against the design specification? (How did the sumo compare to the design specification in Criterion B)
My sumo robot was really successful compared to the design specification, there was nothing missing from what i wrote everything was included in the robot that i built.
Strand 3. Describe how the Sumo Robot could be improved ?
i Could try stabilizing it a bit more so it would have more support from the middle that would provide it with more strength and more power and that could also prevent it from falling over easily.
